This position would be working in the environmental department of Dakota Alpha, a 20-bed skilled nursing facility located in Mandan that specializes and serves individuals with a traumatic brain injury, resulting in both physical and cognitive disabilities. Dakota Alpha is the only skilled nursing facility in North Dakota specializing in providing rehabilitation services for individuals with a brain injury.

MAJOR FUNCTION
The person in this position is responsible for cleaning the Dakota Alpha building and maintaining a sanitary, clean, neat and orderly environment.  Responsibilities of this position also include washing and repairing facility laundry.  Occasionally, sewing repairs to adaptive equipment is performed.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas.
  •  
  • Sweeps, scrubs, and buffs floors, assists with scheduled floor stripping on a yearly basis.
  •  
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, furniture, and draperies.
  •  
  • Dusts furniture and equipment.  Polishes metal overlays and doors.
  •  
  • Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.  Washes windows, door panels, sills and curtains and fireproofs curtains after washing.
  •  
  • Empties resident and facility trash baskets and assures that waste is properly transported to disposal area.
  •  
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies.  Replaces light bulbs.
  •  
  • Assures that cleaning and sanitizing is completed in an industry acceptable manner utilizing proper chemicals and cleaning methods.
 
Laundry
  • Washes all facility laundry using proper temperatures to assure sanitary conditions.
  •  
  • On occasion, assists residents in washing personal laundry using the proper temperature and assisting, if requested in stain removal.
  •  
  • Orders and maintains adequate linen, laundry, and cleaning supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  •  
  • Assures that washing machines and dryers are cleaned on a scheduled basis and notify supervisor of needed repairs or duct cleaning.
  •  
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
  •  
Other Job Functions
  • Adheres to rules and principles of confidentiality regarding resident, staff, and agency concerns.
  •  
  • Is knowledgeable and practices sanitary and safety procedures in everyday work environment.  Occasionally spread de-icer and keep door areas free of snow between maintenance snow removal efforts. 
  •  
  • Participates in in-service and continuing education requirements.
  •  
  • Plants, weeds, and maintains facility flower plots.
  •  
  • Knows and follows agency and program policies and procedures.
  •  
  • Maintain effective working relationships with other departments.

Hours Include:
  • 15-30 hours
  • Evenings
  • Every other weekend
